Stu, The Love Language, Raleigh, July, 2010

Old vans, streamers and water. Add them up and you’ve got a fairly interesting backdrop for a portrait. A big thanks goes out to Justin for throwing just the right amount of water in just the right way. This shot ended up being the cover for an excellent Independent Weekly local music profile by Grayson Currin about Stu and his tumultuous history as it relates to their new record . Big props to Maria Brubeck for handling the lights and going for a splash herself.

Maria also managed to film a little bit of the shoot to give you an idea on how quick a shot like this comes together – at least the water part. This was a very hot afternoon folks. A one point I even started to see stars, so as a helpful reminder, please remember to drink the water in between throwing it on the ground.

View outtakes and more from the shoot. Listen to The Love Language play Manteo.
